In a class assignment, we were told to pick a contemporary designer and create an informational poster as if they were coming to our school to give a guest lecture. I chose Llew Mejia, a a stylistic illustrator skilled in hand-drawn illustration, pattern/print, packaging, branding, and computer generated illustration. He has worked with huge brands like Adidas, Target, Pottery Barn and Starbucks, to name a select few.
Part of the assignment was to use the artist’s own artwork and work with it until it fits into a poster format. I used some of Llew’s illustrations as well as his own biography text for this project – the illustrations are not mine, but the design, layout, and typography is.
