This project is near to my heart; students were asked to create positive propaganda pieces inspired by WPA posters. I am a big advocate in being your own hero and doing what you need to do for yourself. I chose a bright yellow to evoke the Rosie the Riveter "We can do it!" poster.
I illustrated a girl applying red lipstick because that is a popular feminist symbol. It is a statement that women do not have to act like men in order to be accepted as their equals. Lipstick is feminine, yet it can be just as powerful as masculinity. My project emphasizes that one can be feminine and strong at the same time.
People saw my project and loved it. I eventually made 10 color variations and sold prints. I have chosen my top three color combinations to display.
